Sudeley Castle And 2005 Victorian event

The weather once again was perfect  for a good turn out of our Nostalgia members. Croquet was demonstrated on the lawn and John Harold's organ music echoed around the grounds giving pleasure to the many visitors from overseas who were viewing the beautiful rose gardens and castle grounds, cooled by fountains in the heat of a memorable summer day. The Mini Zoo and the lake were also very popular.

Henry VIII and Ann Boleyn were all there, new displays at this popular venue at  Winchcombe.

Sudeley Castle also enjoyed the visit of a vintage car 'stage', and later a classic car show. Roger & Daphne Manning took time out with Peter and his Victorian Bike to view this spectacle.

Tea was Kindly provided for our Lawn Picnic and Roger with Daphne in their  role for the day- (below stairs), 'served' for us.

More Memories of past years at Sudeley.

...Unfortunately barely had Her Majesty decided to tour the estate than an argument broke out amongst our gentlemen, a lady had been insulted! Her gallant husband rushed to her defence and challenged the slanderous remarks. A pistol duel had to be fought to satisfy both parties.

Each gentleman took his shot at 20 paces and honour was declared satisfied. An interested crowd had formed and had been alarmed to see the preparations for the duel, but after the thunderous reports were relieved to find both protagonists still on their feet. The afternoon calm was restored and passed in conversation and pleasantness. We all hope to visit Sudeley again. Perhaps we shall be lucky enough to be presented to Her Majesty once again. HEALTH AND SAFETY RULES AND THE PROHIBITIVE COST OF A FIREARMS LICENCE FOR THE PISTOLS, HAVE NOW ENDED THIS EVENT!!!  We also need ALL our members!
